Young Authors Make a Splash at the Decatur Book Festival
DECATUR, GA, September 9, 2014 — The VerbalEyze Press booth at the Decatur Book Festival this past Labor Day weekend was alive with literary energy. VerbalEyze had the pleasure of introducing seven young authors to the enthusiastic crowds gathered at the festival:
- Jacobi Copeland, author of Inked and The Divine Line
- Tyler Thornton Jones, author of Wonderland
- Ava Wong, author of The Star Gazer
- Kaitlin Britton Wheeler, author of What Is?
- Jamal Clay, author of My Own Words
- Ever Taylor, author of Letters from the Underground
- Louis Burts, author of Breaking Barriers
These young authors met their reading public, gave impromptu book readings, signed books, and sold out multiple titles.
Mr. Copeland, Ms. Taylor, Mr. Burts, and Ms. Britton Wheeler were featured in an Young Writers panel discussion before a standing-room-only crowd at the Art Institute of Atlanta in Decatur. They shared their experiences as writers and published authors. These four were joined by surprise guest Nia Milner, one of the first members of the VerbalEyze Writers Cooperative and a winner of The National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts YoungArts Award for the Short Story.
