Harrison Sim is a playwright and performer, studying theatre at the University of New Mexico. He has appeared in numerous productions at UNM and in Albquerque’s theatre scene, including playing Charles in Blithe Spirit, Orlando in As You Like It, Sergio in Simon as Sergio, Mesrin in The Dispute, and Hanschen in Spring Awakening. He has directed two productions as a part of UNM SCRAP’s Ten Minute Play Festival, devised, directed, and performed in numerous projects as a part of the UnTheatre Workshop, and created and wrote performance pieces for Arts Unexpected, sponsored by the UNM College of Fine Arts. Harrison is expected to graduate with a BA in theatre in January, 2015.
Harrison’s primary interest as an artist is the evolution of theatre: the reconfiguration of historic forms and techniques to suit modern audiences, exploring experimental forms of creation, such as devised work and multimedia, and discerning live performance’s place in a society increasingly dominated by video and mass media.
