Emma Karnes lives in Ithaca, NY and is currently a freshman at Ithaca High School. She has been writing ever since her second-grade teacher, Ms. Everitt, introduced her to the wondrous world of poetry through rain haikus and poems about the school playground. Besides rain and playgrounds, Emma draws inspiration for her poetry from everything from her large, loving family (two parents, two sisters, three dogs and two cats) to history and boredom in study hall.
When she isn’t writing, Emma enjoys spending time with her friends, reading, dancing, and playing on her school’s track and volleyball teams. Her poetry has previously been published in the print edition of Teen Ink and Word Soup End Hunger.
