Alec Myrick is an artist and an athlete who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. When he isn’t writing poetry or performing spoken word, he enjoys listening to music of various genres. He also watches a lot of battle rap to enhance his alliteration and word play skills. While creating his book ArtOfficial he discussed personal feelings and social issues and conveyed those ideas on paper. Alec is inspired by multiple artists in the hip-hop culturemand incorporates the style of Eminem and J. Cole in his own work.
Alec started writing at the age of twelve. He discovered his interest in creative writing when he was assigned multiple writing assignments by his teachers: one of his favorites being a blues piece he wrote in his 6th grade fine arts class taught by Mrs. Susan Barnes at the Ron Clark Academy.
Most recently, he started taking pictures for his school photography class. While learning and practicing the different elements of photography, he started to see improvement in his work and, along the way, realized that he was really good at creating images.
